Re-Issue of Standard Passport
  1. Original Nigerian Passport

  2. Printed copy of filled, dated and signed Passport Application Form

  3. If under 18 years, provide the following:

    i) Copy of the Data Page of BOTH parent’s passports if both parent’s names are printed on the Long birth Certificate. Note that at least one of the parents must hold a Nigerian Passport.

    ii) Letter of consent signed by both parents. In absence of documents or consent of either of the parents, proof of sole custodian from the court must be provided.

    iii) in the event of death of Nigerian parent, a copy of the Death Certificate must be provided.

    iv) Long birth Certificate of the applicant

  4. Change of name can only be done by virtue of Marriage or Divorce. In this case the following documents are required:

  5. a) Marriage Certificate;

    b) Consent Letter signed by the husband;

    c) Data page of the husband’s Passport;

    d) Applicant’s Valid Passport.

  6. The Mission also effect change of name as a result of Divorce. The applicant is to provide the following:

  7. a) Divorce Certificate;

    b) Proof of maiden name, e.g. Passport before marriage;

    c) Other valid ID Card bearing maiden name.

  8. Copy of National Identification Number (NIN) (Note: Your NIN must match the details on your passport in correct order)

  9. Copy of appointmment booking via Nigeria Immmigartion Service (Click here to book appointment)

  10. Administrative fee of £20.00 United Kingdom Postal Order made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London. You are also to come along with a stamp Royal Mail C4 special delivery envelope to enable the Mission to mail back your passports as there would be NO physical collection once the biometric has been taken

  11. Change of name by deed poll is not acceptable.

First Issue of Passport.(N.B: You can also get a First Nigeria Passport by citizenship)
  1. Original and Photocopy of applicant current passport (if Dual nationality)
  2. Original and Photocopy of Birth certificate (showing details of parents)
  3. If under 18 years, provide the following:

    i) Copy of the Data Page of both parents passport, at least one of which must be a Nigerian Passport.

    ii) Letter of consent signed by both parents. In absence of documents or consent of either of the parents, proof of sole custodian from the court must be provided.

    iii) in the event of death of Nigerian parent, a copy of the Death Certificate must be provided.

  4. If above 18 years provide the following:

    i) Copy of Data page of Nigerian Passport of one of the parents.

    ii) In the event of death of Nigerian parent, a copy of the Death Certificate must be provided.

  5. If born outside the UK provide a copy of the appropriate documents used to enter the country. Additionally, if any document provided is not in English, please provide translated version which must be signed and stamped by registered/certified translator.
  6. Copy of Online Passport Payment Slip
  7. Printed copy of filled, dated and signed Passport Application Form
  8. Copy of National Identification Number (NIN) (Note: Your NIN must match the details on your passport in correct order)
  9. Copy of appointmment booking via Nigeria Immmigartion Service (Click here to book appointment)

Replacement of Damaged/Lost/Stolen Passports
  1. Letter to the High Commission, stating reason/s for the replacement of Passport
  2. Download and complete form for Lost Case; Click here to download form
  3. Photocopy of the Data page of old Nigerian passport. If NOT AVAILABLE, please provide Passport Number(E-passport holders only)
  4. A police report clearly stating loss of Nigerian passport.
  5. Copy of Data page of guarantor’s (Valid) Nigerian passport.
  6. Two recent passport photographs one of which must be endorsed on the reverse side by the guarantor.
  7. Documentary proof of employment (if employed) such as: letter from employer or P60 or recent payslip.
  8. Document or Letter from the Home Office (if your passport is forwarded to them) indicating residence status in the UK.
  9. Applicant’s proof of address in the UK such as: Utility Bills.
  10. Letter from applicant’s academic institution (students only).
  11. Charges of £150 United Kingdom Postal Order and made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London. You are also to come along with a stamp Royal Mail C4 special delivery envelope to enable the Mission to mail back your passports as there would be NO physical collection once the biometric has been taken
  12. Change of name by deed poll is not acceptable.

NOTE ABOUT GUARANTOR: A guarantor must be a Nigerian and known to the applicant.
Emergency Travel Certificates (ETC)
– It is issued to facilitate applicant’s immediate ONE-WAY departure to Nigeria only, and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

– Please do not apply for a Travel Certificate if your passport is valid or with a recognised authority in the United Kingdom.

 
  1. Letter to the High Commission stating why the Emergency Travel Certificate is REQUIRED
  2. Two recent passport photographs
  3. Police report with passport number if it is stolen or missing.
  4. Copy of lost/stolen/misplaced/urgent travel passport
  5. Additional form of identification, e.g. Letter from employer, Driving license, Letter from academic institution (student only), others
  6. Copy of Guarantor\’s valid Nigerian passport
  7. Recent utility bill from the guarantor
  8. Airline Ticket to Nigeria

REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR ETC

N.B: Opening hours is 9.30am – 1pm and BOOKING APPOINTMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ETC

Requirement for Contacless Application (Self Biometric)

– Please Note: The contactless application process is not available for applicant under the age of 18 or for first-time application. Application can be process through appointment system.

 
  1. A Royal Mail C4 special delivery self-addressed envelope for return delivery
  2. The old passport (if applicable)
  3. Payment of the £20 administrative fee, made via postal order payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London (Applicants should write their name and telephone number at the back of the postal order.)
  4. Application forms and payment receipt

PASSPORT INTERVENTION EXERCISE – DECEMBER 2025

Following our previous publication regarding the December 2025 Passport Intervention Exercise, the Nigeria High Commission, London, wishes to inform members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom of a change in schedule.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the dates for the exercise at Glasgow, Cardiff, Aberdeen, and Swansea have been changed. The new dates and locations are those stated in this current publication and supersede any prior announcements. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask affected applicants to refer to the details below. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service will conduct the Passport Intervention Exercise at the following confirmed locations, dates, and times:

Applicants attending the exercise MUST come with the following:

  1. Passport Application Form
  2. Printed Appointment Slip
  3. Old Passport Booklet – mandatory for reissue, renewal, change of data. For LOST PASSPORT A £150 Postal Order payable to Nigeria High Commission is required.
  4. A Prepared Royal Mail C4 special delivery self-addressed envelope (for return of the processed passport)
  5. £40 Postal Order payable to the Nigeria High Commission

IMPORTANT:

Any applicant who has applied for a Nigerian passport and has any appointment date is eligible to attend the intervention exercise at the nearest location.

Applicants are kindly advised to attend on the scheduled dates and ensure they bring all required documents to avoid delays.
